The values of the Friendship Evangelical Cell Church (EKV)
Your values say something about who you are. For the EKV the points below are very important. We continually strive to practice these values.
Friendship with God
Jesus is Central:
It is all about following Jesus with your whole heart, as a Christian who has been born again through grace, obeying His Word (the Bible) in every aspect of life and in all the activities of the church in order to bring honor and glory to God. Philippians 2:9-11; Colossians 1:18-20
Lving in the Spirit
The Christian life is based on God's grace and the power of the Holy Spirit Whom every Christian has received. We maintain our relationship with God through prayer and we honor Him with a worshipful lifestyle; this is worked out in creative ways within the various aspects of being the church. Galatians. 5:22-25; Ephesians. 2:8-10.
Friendship with One Another
Putting God's Word into practice:
Application of God's Word (the Bible) in everyone's daily life, encouraged by practical and relevant teaching that is faithful to the Bible that equips and builds up both adult believers as well as children, during the Sunday morning service, the cell group meetings and special days and weekends organized for the church. Psalms 119:16-17.
Discipleship:
Making disciples - teaching others to do what Jesus said - is a commandment of Jesus to all believers. This is expressed in personal discipleship and the mentor/coach relationships for everyone in the church. Matthew. 28:19.
Fellowship:
Having fellowship with one another, building relationships between Christians, based on the love of Christ and the applicationof the 'one anothers' in God's Word, is of great importance and is practiced in the context of the cell group. John 13:34-35.
Every member active:
Every believer has received gifts and talents from God and is expected to use them according to his own abilities, first in his own cell group, and also, if possible, in the rest of the church, to bring about the building up of the church of Jesus Christ. Ephesians 4:11-12; 1 Corinthians 12:7.
Cell group life:
Every church member is a member of a small group of people that are committed to one another. In this way it is possible for every member to experience the Christian life and to share in the loving environment of a covenant relationship with other believers. Every cell attempts to grow through evangelism and discipleship, numerically but also in spiritual maturity, and will ultimately multiply. Hebrews 10:24-25; Ephesians 4:16.
Friendship with the people around us
Being a witness/Evangelism:
The important final earthly command of Jesus to every Christian was to make His gospel known. We practice this 1) in our region, in various creative ways, but mainly in the personal evangelistic relationships that every church member has with non-believers, with the goal of winning them to Christ. And 2) worldwide, through prayer, financial support and sending out of people (missionaries) with the goal of seeing new, strong and reproducing churches come into existance, especially in areas where no church exists. Acts 1:8
Good deeds:
According to your ability, showing God's love to everyone, through practical help for people in need. Acts 10.38
